Slip

Introducing Slip: the genius little clip-in sleeve to help organize & reuse torn-out pantone chips. Currently, mine are in a little pile (below), so I'll be ordering a few Slip sleeves stat.

Slip so smart!

Sledding

We were up in Lake Placid last weekend, visiting Griffin's grandparents, and took him on his first sleigh ride. He didn't love getting in the sled, but as you can see, he loved it once we got going.

Sweet Valentine from Simplesong

Like the saying goes, the way to my heart is through my stomach. But I think an important step in there is through the mail. There's no better 'thinking of you' gift than good old fashioned mail - in letter or package form. Nothing. Add a little something sweet in there, and it's a home run. Always, always, always.

Thank you to the lovely & talented Suann of Simplesong Design for making my Saturday extra special & sweet this weekend with this beautiful valentine.

(There were lots more salty caramels here, but it's been two days, so what do you expect? You're lucky there are still three left. They're even more delicious than they look.)

Thank you Suann!!
xoxo

About Town: Children's Art Museum

At the recommendation of Griffin's friend Olivia, we visited the Children's Museum of the Arts in Soho today. Holy cow, it's my new favorite place. I mean Griffin's new favorite place. If he were a bit older, we could have spent the whole day exploring & participating. Because he doesn't yet understand stop motion videos, and certainly doesn't understand that the bunch of balloons in the corner are actually part of another child's sculpture, we spent most of the time in the Wee Arts Room for 1 to 5 year olds. It's a spacious room with a ton of natural light, lots of tables set up for specific crafts or projects, with an attentive and engaging staff. We were in the mood to try it all, table-hopping & sampling all the options: play-doh, magnets, markers, chalk, cray pas, flubber (remember that stuff?), legos. It was so much fun. I can't wait to go back. I mean Griffin can't wait to go back.

I highly recommend a visit:

Clouds for Distraction

John and I recently took our first solo vacation while Griffin stayed at home with his aunt & uncle. (How nice are Aunt K & Uncle C?!) It was incredible time away - to be alone, to have nothing to do except to eat & not burn, to reconnect and disconnect. Getting there & back was the opposite experience. I hate to fly - really hate it. I had a bad flight when I was in high school and have been a nervous wreck on flights ever since. In the past few years, I've started taking photos out the window to distract myself & find it pretty soothing. Next to my noise-cancellation headphones, it's the best non-medicine. I loved the shadows the clouds were casting on the water, like in the above photo. It looked like a pretty ink-blot pattern as far as you could see. And then at other times, the clouds seemed to tie dye the sea. It was beautiful, really, and a welcome relief from the pounding heart in my chest.

Lettering in Anthro Catalog

I just got the new Anthropologie catalog in the mail & instantly fell for the penciled handlettering. (That gorgeous coffee table isn't so bad either!) The minimal layout feels a whole lot friendlier with the penciled-in & crossed out details - and perhaps a bit more approachable than the nearly 3K+ price tag might suggest in type. All in, it's got that casual cool vibe that Athro does best. Well done.
