Home Improvements: Ceiling Fans

Do you like ceiling fans?

When Lizzy suggested adding ceiling fans in two rooms of our apartment, John & I had completely different opinions on them.  Ceiling fans remind me of summers at the beach - windows open, the smell & sound of the ocean, lazy days at the beach - what could be better?  They remind John of dingy & dusty old cabins that lack any sort of modern updates.  Somehow, (maybe it was my enormous belly!) I was able to strong arm him into getting the ceiling fans & he's quickly joined my team.  The air circulation sans air conditioner or boxed fan is amazing.  But it's funny to think that we both had such strong & opposing feelings towards a fan!  Do you have any associations with ceiling fans that make you like or dislike them?

We have them and love them! They are in the bedrooms and I love the sound at night.

I don't particularly love how ceiling fans look, but I can deny that they are useful! Especially in the bedroom -- the breeze and white noise they produce help me sleep at night. Ironically, I recently wrote about ceiling fans on my blog. I wanted to know why interior designers seem to hate them with such passion!

ceiling fans are supposed to be great in nurserys too as having a fan running is supposed to help with SIDS. Good luck!

I love a pretty ceiling fan! We don't have any air conditioning so they REALLY help on warm days to keep the air moving.

I have a love/hate relationship with them too. I hate the aesthetics of them but they're so functional since we don't have AC. We recently went looking for new fans - almost all are awful. Where did you find yours?!
