Quarterly: Swiss Miss
Last year, I signed myself up for the coolest subscription service ever: Quarterly. You choose which "Contributor" you'd like to receive a mailing from, and voila! every three months you get a great little package from him/her. Love. I chose contributor Tina Roth Eisenberg of Swiss Miss because she's got a great eye for nicely designed things, and she's a mom :)
This was my second mailing and I'm already obsessed. It's all about getting stuff done. I already use & love her online TeuxDeux list, but this additional stick-up weekly calendar is awesome. I have it under my palms as I type this, with little to-do reminders. The second helper she's included to get stuff done is the Caran D'Ache Red Metal Ballpoint Pen. It's a beauty. As you may remember, I've been on the hunt for the perfect pen. This one is out of my price range for that pursuit, but I'm very happy to have this one in my posession. I completely agree with Tina: great things inspire us to be great!
Thanks to Quarterly for existing & to Tina for another awesome & inspiring mailing.
Here's to great!

First Haircut
Griffin got his first haircut this week, courtesy of Farmor (grandmother in Swedish). As you can see, he knew something was up, but there were no tears! and instantly looked like a real little boy, which almost had Mommy in tears:)

A Bruce Hightlight: Words Not Sung
We went to see the tireless Bruce Springsteen last night at Madison Square Garden. Twice he came into the crowd and stood up on a chair about five feet from us. Crazy. But the point of me writing about this was the bigger highlight of the night for me & one that gave me chills - when he was reflecting on people who have passed away (possibly referring to his saxaphonist Clarence Clemons who died last year) and said to the crowd: All I know is, that if we're here tonight, then they're here tonight. That simple statement brought tears to my eyes & does now just typing it. I know he meant that in any way you celebrate someone who is gone, you are bringing them to life, keeping them here, with us in life. I've lost both my parents at a relatively young age, so for me to think about how this statement applies to me is both comforting & profound. To remember that I am, in fact, a literal part of my parents. And indeed, Bruce is so right: Me being here is them being here. So simple. Amen, Boss. And thank you for the reminder.

Easter
We were down in Pennsylvania for Easter this weekend. To my complete surprise, Griffin loved meeting the Easter Bunny. I couldn't believe it. He followed him around the room & looked outside the window longingly when he left! The Easter egg hunt at my stepmother's house was a big hit, as well, with Griffin getting his very own Easter basket, trimmed in funny fake fur!

New L&H Invitations at Minted
I have a few new invitation designs over at Minted.
Katie was kind enough to send me a pic of one that she used for her daughter's 5th birthday party - my Horizon design. So cute! Thanks so much for sharing, Katie!
Check out the rest of the Linda & Harriett collection on Minted here.

ixxi
I've been working on quilting patterns for a big project I'm debuting at the stationery show in May. So when I saw this wall mural concept from ixxi, my mind went immediately to my quilts. This would be such a cool way to display art work (yours or your childrens') or old family photos or current ones. Personally, I'd love to do something like this as a platform for rotating artwork on a big blank wall in our home - starting with my new quilts. In honor of Griffin's second birthday in October, maybe we'd swap it out with 24 Griffin pics - one from each month of his little life. Wouldn't it be great?
Check out more from ixx here and see a quick video of how it works here.

Uplift Opens in NYC!
My sister & her two business partners opened the doors to their female-only fitness company, Uplift, over the weekend. Uplift has been in business for the past year, but this is their first physical space (located on 23rd b/t 5th & 6th Aves) & it's a beauty! Note the astro turf under the bar. So fun. Congrats, Kate!!
Learn more about Uplift here. And check out their class schedule here.
